【Product Description】 "D-DAY"—a playable simulation of the Normandy landings originally released by Sho-Kikaku in 1989 and later reissued as a bonus game in "Command Magazine" Issue 46—is back.
On June 6, 1944, the Allied forces—led primarily by the United States and Great Britain—launched a campaign to liberate Europe from the grip of the Third Reich. Codenamed "Operation Overlord," the operation committed a massive force comprising 180,000 troops, 20,000 vehicles, 4,200 transport vessels, 1,200 naval ships, and 10,000 aircraft. Their objective was the coast of Normandy, and their mission was to liberate Paris from fascist control within three months.
Meanwhile, Adolf Hitler, leader of the Third Reich, was overconfident in the "Atlantic Wall"—a defensive line stretching from France to Scandinavia—believing it would repel any invasion attempt.
Now begins the greatest amphibious assault in history—the operation that turned the tide of the war in Europe!
Thirty-seven years after its initial release, "D-DAY" returns in a definitive edition as part of the "Command Basic" series.
The Command Basic version of "D-DAY" corrects all errata found in the Sho-Kikaku and *Command Magazine* editions and incorporates stat adjustments made by the game's designer, Mr. Ohira. The map now features numerous gameplay reminders to enhance playability.
Map Improvements:
• Improved visibility of roads and rivers
• Unit information added to initial setup hexes
• Reinforcement data added to the turn track
• Pronunciation guides added to place names
• Improved readability of charts and tables; additional explanatory notes included
