【Product Description】 This product is the Japanese edition of "Operation Icarus" by Tiny Battle Publishing.
"Operation Icarus: Invasion of Iceland" is an operational-level game that allows players to examine the World War II invasion of Iceland across three different scenarios.
Scenario 1 depicts the race between British and German forces to reach Iceland in May 1940. Scenario 2 posits a German invasion of Iceland as a supporting operation for "Operation Sea Lion" (the planned invasion of the British mainland). Scenario 3 continues from Scenario 2, featuring a "counter-landing" by Free British and American fleets to retake a German-occupied Iceland.
Beyond ground operations, the game covers naval battles and air operations using simple, accessible rules.
In May 1940, while launching the Norwegian campaign, German forces also planned an invasion of Iceland. Establishing submarine and air bases there would pose a grave threat to British sea lanes. Detecting this move, Britain hastily dispatched the 2nd Marine Battalion aboard the cruiser HMS Berwick. Which side—Britain or Germany—will land first and secure control of this vital strategic outpost in the far north?
