The supplementary game in this issue is a simulation game based on the Battle of the Yellow Sea, which took place in November of the fifth year of the Tenki era. You play the battle fought between Chinjufu Shogun Minamoto no Yoriyoshi and Abe no Sadato in what is now Yellow Sea, Fujisawa Town, Iwate Prefecture.
Chinjufu Shogun Minamoto no Yoriyoshi sought to eliminate the Abe clan, who controlled the six Oku districts, but was unable to gain the support of the Imperial Court and was in a difficult position.
In November of the fifth year of the Tenki era (1057), Yoriyoshi, eager to achieve success, set out to defeat the Abe clan, and arrived at Shirahata on the Yellow Sea with over 1,800 soldiers. However, the advance was hampered by severe winds and snow, and with food supplies running out, both men and horses were exhausted.
Meanwhile, upon learning of the Kokufu army's departure, Abe Sadato, the leader of the Abe clan, led over 4,000 elite soldiers to Kawasaki Fortress, then headed south to Kumadate, where he confronted Yoriyoshi's forces stationed in the Yellow Sea.
The player is divided into the Kokufu army led by Minamoto no Yoriyoshi, and the Abe army led by Abe Sadato, with the Kokufu army aiming to withdraw from the battlefield and the Abe army aiming to defeat the Kokufu army.
