【Product Description】This is the fourth book written by samurai enthusiasts for samurai enthusiasts. The included game recreates the tactical battle of the Battle of Ishii, Masakado's last battle.
On December 15, 939, Taira no Masakado attacked the Kozuke provincial capital and expelled the provincial governor. He then proclaimed himself emperor and appointed provincial governors throughout the Kanto region.
The following year, however, he was defeated by Taira no Sadamori and Fujiwara no Hidesato, who had raised an army to pursue Masakado, and was driven back to their camp at Ishii.
Sadamori and Hidesato, along with Fujiwara no Tamenori, led an army of 4,000 men and burned down the Ishii camp and its surrounding area, while Masakado's army consisted of only 400 men. These 400 were Masakado's closest aides, known at the time as the "Jurui" (ten types of troops).
The battle was led from start to finish by Masakado and his skilled and highly motivated Jurui. Moreover, Masakado's forces were positioned upwind, giving them an absolute advantage in battles centered around bows and arrows. The battle was unpredictable.
Will Masakado be killed, as in historical fact, or will he be able to repel an enemy with ten times his own forces?
